The Wise Indian

An Indian, after having bothered with a friend who has stolen some of his belongings, went to see his grandfather who enjoyed a good reputation as a wise man. The Indian told him that he felt so angry with his friend that he had the desire to hit him but at the same time  internally wondered it  he should forgive him.

The boy asked the elderly to tell him why we experience the internal conflict between the part of us that wants to forgive and the other wants to retaliate.

After a few seconds of meditation, the grandfather said:
- Inside our mind we have two wolves. One of them compassionate, forgiving and loving. While the other is the one that does not forgives, is aggressive, embittered, violent and vengeful.

Inquisitively, the young man wanted to know which of the two wolves should win. The wise staring at him answered:
- Depends of which of the two you feed.
